"As always, it's nice to be out there and practising. I am looking forward to doing my best in the matches ahead," Sachin Tendulkar told TOI on Wednesday.
MUMBAI: Can Sachin Tendulkar continue playing international cricket? Considering how fit he appeared during a promotional event in suburban Mumbai on Wednesday, there is no harm in entertaining such thoughts.
The array of media persons got a touch restive as the organizers seemed to take an eternity before calling Tendulkar on stage. The first question was obvious. 'What would you say ahead of your impending retirement?' Tendulkar's reply to that was, "I cannot thank the people of India enough for all the support they have given me during these 24 years. I thank each one from the bottom of my heart."
On the prospect of being watched by film stars and other influential people during his last Test, Tendulkar simply nodded before making a quick and quiet exit.
Later, on the sidelines of the event, Tendulkar told TOI that he was in a happy frame of mind. "As always, it's nice to be out there and practising. I am looking forward to doing my best in the matches ahead," he said.
Earlier at the event, Tendulkar also spoke about his favourite holiday destinations listing places in India as one of the best. There are a lot of beautiful spots in India that we should appreciate and visit with our children. There's the Taj Mahal, the Jallianwala Bagh and the Golden Temple. I have visited these places with my family and they have been moving experiences."
And what about his favourite destination overseas. "London is one place I like because there I can mix both cricket and holidays. Another place I really liked was Iceland where we spent a week. It was fantastic to be with nature. On a lighter note, the credit cards stayed in the pocket because there was nothing to shop," he said.
